Quick Thinking

I along with three of my girlfriends, Mary Lou, Kerry and Kelly had a girls day out by going wine tasting at Castello di Amorosa in the Napa Valley but that is another story. Some great tales were told including one by Mary Lou. Let me say this about Mary Lou, she is an awesome, awesome LADY. And I do mean lady. She is always dressed just so and hardly has a hair out of place. She is a pillar of our community. Anyway she told us this story and had us all in stitches.

It seems that a few years back, Mary Lou and Les were getting ready for one of the many functions they attend that was to take place at the local country club when Mary Lou remembered that their horse Eklipse needed to be fed and since she was all dolled up, she sent Les out to do the chore. It was dark. On his way back in, Les tripped over a skunk and got a full dose of skunk poison. Mary Lou observed all of this from inside the house and did what any smart loving housewife would do. She ran over and locked the door so that Les could not come in the house! Very smart woman.

Poor Les had to strip down to his skivvies in the garage while Mary Lou scrounged around in the kitchen in search of some tomato juice. She was in luck. She found some. One teeny tiny itsy bitsy can. Probably not much more than 6 ounces. Les splashed it around as best he could and they both felt that it had worked pretty well as they really couldn't smell anything so after Les got dressed again, off they went to the function.

All night, friends came sniffing around them. Somebody smell a skunk? Nobody hung around them for long. Les got thirsty and went to the bar for a drink and the bartender, after noticing his eau de cologne, took pity on him and gave him a large can of tomato juice to take to the bathroom to wash down some more! Les did this. Used the whole can to clean himself more than he already had.

Mary Lou was determined not to leave the function til after they had eaten the meal that they had already paid for, by Golly! They ate alone. All alone. Then they threw in the towel and went home.

The End.
